Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 29, 2013 12:47 pm Hi, Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if they have been able to fix it? It's a new house so I'm not sure if it is covered by my 6 month warranty period. I've done research and one site says it's environmental factors that can't be helped, another site says it's too much water in the grout when made. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks Re: Effloressance - dark grout turns white when dry 2Dec 01, 2013 7:47 pm I don't think it's normal. Our bathroom had some and the waterproofing wasn't done right, I think it was all related. I'm not saying that's the cause with yours but I don't think it's supposed to happen if everything is done right. Re: Effloressance - dark grout turns white when dry 3Dec 04, 2013 7:24 am It could be any number of things. The white could be small amounts of salts in the cement under the tiles leaching upwards with the water, it could be a small amount of lime being forced out of the grout or cement as it dries. It could even be the type of grout used - some are made of much better materials than others. Sometimes after all the white salts/effloressence/chemicals have leached out the grout may return ( mostly ) to its original colour. Stewie It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 6185 Hi, We have warm light throughout our house and it sort of makes are already dark stained floor more darker.
