And to reach a towel from inside the shower - this would be great for my kids (9 & 11) at the moment because they always want a towel handed to them to wipe the shampoo from their eyes. I suppose they'll outgrow that soon, but it's nice to get the towel before you get out. On paper there seems to be room to get around the open door, but it could turn out to be awkward. On first glance I thought obviously option 2 but your reasoning does make sense. It's just that it will be awkward getting out of the shower and around into the middle of the room to dry off wouldn't it? What about going option 2 but putting the towel rail on the wall opposite the shower? And couldn't you save money by going hinged doors? What's with the cavity sliders, seems a decent sized room? So much easier being able to open the door and grab a towel straight away instead of having to open the door, get out, close the door and then grab a towel. I can see how people would think it would be awkward having the door open that way, but if you think about it, how often do shower doors get left open like that? The only time it would be open is when someone is getting in or out of the shower so it wouldn't really make any difference.
