Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 29, 2013 10:47 am I have chosen frosted glass for my shower screens in my new house, in the house we have now which is 15 years old has the textured privacy glass and my two daughters say they would feel "too exposed" with clear glass even though we have locks on the bathroom doors. Is clear glass the "norm" these days? All the display houses I have visited have clear glass. Anyway I have posted a picture of the frosted glass. I think it still looks modern, but I am just wondering if I am making a mistake?? http://www.glasstek.com.au/frosted_glass.html Re: Frosted v's Clear Shower Screens 2Aug 29, 2013 11:19 am My daughter was also concerned about having a shower with clear glass but was reassured when I pointed out she can lock the door. It's really personal preference. Build for what you want. If you prefer having frosted glass in your showers then how could it possibly be a mistake putting it in? Rather than spend the next x years wishing you'd put in frosted just go with your gut and put in what you like. I prefer clear glass but I'm not you! Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Frosted v's Clear Shower Screens 3Aug 29, 2013 11:59 am I also don't really like the idea of clear shower screens (mainly for cleaning purposes than anything else!!) but I do think they look really nice and modern. I might just have to lock hubby out of the ensuite on the nights I'm feeling self conscious hahaha. I considered getting the translucent glass but realised they probably wouldn't be THAT much easier to clean, watermarks would still show up. If this is a house you intend to stay in for a long time then I agree with Bluesuede, just do whatever you're comfortable with. It's not like it's an area that's on display to guests or anything Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Frosted v's Clear Shower Screens 4Aug 29, 2013 12:00 pm Once you've had clear glass you'll never have frosted again. But agree with Emy - go for what you want/feel best with. Re: Frosted v's Clear Shower Screens 5Aug 29, 2013 12:55 pm agree you go with what you want me personally love my clear glass Re: Frosted v's Clear Shower Screens 6Aug 29, 2013 1:16 pm We have never had clear but we are going with clear. I just now the cats will sit and stare at me as I shower, sigh. Our ensuite had no door between it and the bedroom, just an opening but we added a door for when one person got up early and had to turn on the light or make noise. So I can shut they out if they get too creepy LOL. Naughty kitties. Re: Frosted v's Clear Shower Screens 7Aug 29, 2013 1:53 pm I think the preference for clear glass is due to the fact that it gives the bathroom an impression of space and not a "closed in" feel; it's for that same reason people get semi-frameless or frameless shower screens. To be honest the clear glass on my shower screen tends to fog up or get covered with water when I'm showering so you couldn't see much if you walked into the room. As others have said, you can get locks on bathroom doors to prevent any embarrassing moments lol. I would go for what you want and think looks good but don't get something just because (at the moment) your daughters feel "too exposed". They may not mind so much in the future! Hi everyone.
