Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 26, 2013 11:58 pm Hello All, I'm looking at doing a flatpack laundry for my build and wanted to see if there are any recommendations that people might have for some companies to provide either carcasses or flatpacks for my laundry... I'm handy with tools and would not have any dramas installing the cabinets and doing the work. The laundry will be an L shape 3190 x 1790. I'm located in Melbourne so any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Re: DIY Flat Pack Laundry - Melbourne 2Aug 27, 2013 9:52 am There are two options you have. One is to have the panels cut to size, edged and you put em together. I chose this option for a kitchen extension partially because I could not get the flat pack of the desired dimensions and because the cost came out to 30% cheaper than flatpak. I used allboard (google em) and was happy with their turnaround and service. It's much more fiddling than flatpak but if the job is big enough, the savings are there. I also edged a few panels with melamine tap and that worked a treat. To get actual flatpaks, bunnings with their kaboodle range have two options being literally flatpak in a box or pre-assembled. Then you have masters and also your cabinet makers like allboards that do flatpak themselves. Re: DIY Flat Pack Laundry - Melbourne 3Aug 27, 2013 11:10 pm Thanks for the reply Adam. I'll check out allboards and see what they can do... I've checked out the range at Masters and Bunnings and that stuff doesn't suit my needs, as I need something slightly more custom due to my room size and having the washer and dryer side by side. I have a quote for my kitchen supplier to supply and install the laundry unit as well but I'm just shopping around to see if there are worthwhile savings. I would suggest you simply go and talk to council about your proposal, most councils are getting onboard with ancillary dwellings. There is no benefit in keeping it… 1 4106 I think I know the answer but just checking to see if anyone has had experience with it.
