Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 20, 2013 10:48 pm Hello, After preliminary council approval we reached the stage of creating final plans for our extension. In one part we will have a new 4x5 master bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and a new ensuite. We have a fixed rectangular area of 3.68m x 2.47m for a wardrobe + ensuite. It can not be increased due to council regulations on required boundary clearances. So the ensuite has to be of the L-shape as shown below. I would like to put there a shower, double vanity and bath and leave a reasonable space for the wardrobe. So I would appreciate any ideas on design improvements. Thank you. http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/2162/3tjg.jpg Re: Help with ensuite design 2Aug 20, 2013 11:46 pm Have you considered a cavity-sliding door for the ensuite. That would allow you to move the vanity closer to the doorway. For a high-end look you could put a wooden-framed door with a glass opaque panel. If you make that change, you could put a free-standing bath where the shower is. There just needs to be enough room for getting around it to clean it. You would also need a floor-mount bath spout (you can get these with a hand shower as well). You could have a shower where your plan shows the bath. Consider a frameless (doorless) showerscreen in that spot. That is quite popular. Other threads on this site suggest googling for "small bathroom layout" (look at the image results). Re: Help with ensuite design 5Aug 21, 2013 12:25 pm Thanks a lot for your replies. Actually I thought about this option, i.e. making a wet shower in the bath spot and moving the bath parallel to the vanity. This option is quite attractive. However, how noisy are sliding doors ? My wife gets up before 6am and goes to work very early. If a sliding door makes a lot of noise, it will create some problems. Of course, one can always use the main bathroom, but this somehow defeats the idea of having a separate ensuite. Also I was thinking to put a free standing cast iron bath there and we could probably go for a shorter option. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6139 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11835 |
