Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 06, 2013 11:49 pm Hi all, Possibly a stupid question. I have a ceramic disk tap (caroma) in a shower which is leaking. Unfortunately, the tap is held on with a little plastic insert behind the handle, which is impossible to now remove. It seems that after several years there is enough build up to lock in the concealed nut. When we had a plumber out for something else, my wife asked and he said it was common with those and the only thing to do was to cut the handle off. Accepting this fate, my question is – to get at the taps (all the body of it I guess, not just the handle) will the tiles need to be removed. The taps are located on a single leaf brick wall (typical Perth construction) Of course, if anyone knows a way of getting the tap handle off, I would welcome the advice. Cheers! Re: Fixing Caroma ceramic disk tap 2Aug 08, 2013 8:41 pm You should be able to unscrew the flange from the wall allowing access to the spindle. Use either a shifter or multigrips to unscrew spindle from the breech. Then you will have better access to the backing nut of the handle now. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
