I have asked a builder, and he reckon the best way is change the design move the shower unit to the other side of the room, which is extra $$$$. I look at the current state of the window frame, I think it was next to the shower since the house was initially built. But the painting on it looks pretty intacted. Just wondering if anyone have faced same issue before and any suggestions how I can tackle this problem. Thanks in advance. ----------------------------My new design--------------------------- I did a new design after move the shower unit to the other side of the room. I guess this would apply should you have floor to ceiling tiling (which you should in a shower anyways). Re: Wood frame window in shower unit 3Jul 24, 2013 11:50 am got another builder come in this weekend. See what he says. Re: Wood frame window in shower unit 4Jul 25, 2013 10:13 am Pull the architraves and jambs off (if the jambs are fixed to the window fin leave them in) Sheet, waterproof and tile the window reveal, using a neat aluminium tile trim. Extra coat of gloss paint on the window itself for protection. Re: Wood frame window in shower unit 5Jul 25, 2013 10:56 pm My brother's house has a window in the shower. The bottom window sill is a a nice wide, very varnished wood ledge that they use as a shelf. I don't remember what the sides of the window frame is, but I've always been amazed at how well the wood sill has stood up to the water - and it does get puddles of water on it. They've been there nearly 20 years too. So it can be done but you'd want someone who knows what they're doing. Re: Wood frame window in shower unit 6Jul 28, 2013 7:36 pm Got another builder came in. They reckon the best way is to move the shower. I suppose this would be the best in long term. Wait and see how much that going to cost me. Re: Wood frame window in shower unit 7Jul 29, 2013 11:34 am I wouldn't have a shower in a window. You want to waterproof it to reduce the chances of leaking. I see a window in a shower and I see two issues: - window frame rotting - potential leak in the shower with no easy fix. I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe. S o I… 0 36934 This is 100% true.
