Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 20, 2013 7:43 am We are at final design stages of our house plan and we are trying to decide whether to have a window in the downstairs powder room or leave it out. The room is 3.5m by 1.45m wide and the shower takes the whole length of the wall at the end of the powder room. Originally the window was a normal sized window in the middle of the shower wall. To us that was a terrible idea for two reasons, water going on the window and also privacy. So I removed the window completely. They have installed an exhaust to go outside for the room. I have now thought of maybe putting a window above the shower tiles which stop at 1.9m. The window would be at 2.1m and be 400mm high. The ceilings are 2.7m high. I like the idea of natural light and also if I have to freshen the room can at least open a window, will need a step to do so??? Now we need to make the call if we change the plan to put this high window in place or leave it with no window. Wondering what others have done and what opinions are out there. If you have a similar bathroom, it would be great to see how it looks if you don't mind sharing. Thanks for reading and any help Re: Window/no Window in downstairs Powder room 2Jul 20, 2013 7:56 am Ild def put it in. Fresh air and light...win win Re: Window/no Window in downstairs Powder room 3Jul 20, 2013 10:46 am I prefer a window in bathrooms/toilets for sure Re: Window/no Window in downstairs Powder room 6Jul 21, 2013 1:56 am Yeah, my sister has a powder room (no shower though) with no window and it's completely dark with door closed without turning light on, even in middle of day. I would find that a bit annoying if I was using it regularly during the day. The ceilings were also 2.7m high. It had frosted glass but still let lots of light in and worked really well because you could use the tiled window sill as a shelf for shampoo etc. I would definitely include a window if it's possible.
