Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 17, 2013 10:07 am Hi, We are having a strange problem with our bath tub taps. This is only about 4 years old house. We have two taps (hot & cold) like the T shape where water comes out from only one opening. However, for some reasons those two taps don't work at the same time when I open both! That means I can't get the correct water temperature. If I open the hot water tap first then nothings comes out of cold water tap and vice versa. Cold water comes out as soon as I close the hot water tap. I also noticed a bit of drop in the water pressure. What that means is that I had to leave the hot water tap almost 15 mins and then open the cold water tap for another 10 mins to get the bath ready! There is also drop in the hotwater systems (instantaneous gas heater) performance. Normal showers temperature changes even if no one else is in the house! Does anyone experience similar issues? Any solutions? regards, devank Re: Hot & cold water taps - don't work at the same time 2Jul 17, 2013 11:32 am Sounds like a low pressure problem. Contact your water provider and ask if there are any pressure issues.(Sometimes the pressure is good in the mains but with older water services to individual properties internal corrosion can limit flow) Also check that the stop tap is fully open. Even the problem with the bath taps (water doesn't come thorugh at the same time) due to low pressure? Yes if pressure is low then water will take the easiest route to the outlet, "starving" the other system of flow. To check time filling a bucket with both the bath taps open. If you are not filling a 10 litre bucket in around 30 secs low pressure is going to be the issue. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! It is fully opened. Called the water company. Apprently they haven't reduced the pressure in our area. Each set of taps have different pressure. Garden taps have the highest pressure. Kitchen taps are working well (both hot & cold). Bath & shower taps are the worst. Is it still a pressure issue or plumbing issue? Re: Hot & cold water taps - don't work at the same time 6Jul 18, 2013 11:23 am If you have good pressure at the garden taps it sounds like an internal plumbing problem. Best to get a plumber in. Some sort of blue stuff was blocking the flow. They all got stuck in 'flow regulators'. Now everything is back to normal. Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)?
