I suspect its because there is grout under it so its not sticking as it should cause it gets wet. I've read you should do one or the other but not both which makes sense. Any advice please? It shouldnt be a big deal and should be effective as long as the surface and grout is 100% dry. The slightest bit of moisture can cause it not to stick. It was recently re caulked and it should of been bone dry as we hadn't used it in months. Clean water is the best bet, then give it a rub with a dry cloth even after it is dry. Im pretty sure the Code states that a flexible sealant should be applied, I dont think it makes mention of using the grout, I would have to check the wording. But either way it shouldnt fail that quickly. If you are beyond belief, there is a silicone that can be applied in the wet, I have used it before, it is very pliable, almost like blu-tac., Made by Selleys. It would be very hard to get a neat bead with though as it doesnt flow like traditional silicones. If you think your technique is flawed, there are people out there that specialise in silicone work.
