Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 07, 2013 5:00 pm We have now ripped out all the wall tiles, floor tiles and base under the floor tiles. It is an upstairs en suite and some of the timber sheeting on the floor has rotted away. We will get the floor back to as was with new sheets, then waterproof, then bring the level of the floor up by 20mm before tiling. My issue is, what to use to bring the floor level up by 20mm. It was originally done with cement, I have heard it can be done with waterproof sheets and then finish off to the required level with a self leveling compound. Any Ideas? Re: En Suite reno re building up the floor level 3Jul 08, 2013 10:14 am I'm having a hard time picturing what you are talking about here. Are you re tiling the whole bathroom floor, or is this just in the actual shower? Is there a hob of some sort (part you step over to get into the shower) or is the whole bathroom a wet floor? (meaning you have another drain in the bathroom floor) Either way it seems that using those scyon sheets you wont get the fall to the drain, which is why you usually have a mud (concrete floor) Re: En Suite reno re building up the floor level 4Jul 13, 2013 7:50 pm I'm re tiling the whole floor. There is no hob.So what I'm proposing to do Is to use cement in the shower area so as to be able to slope the cement down to the main shower drain, then on the rest of the floor bring the height up with Yellow tongue.Reseal that level and then tile over. In short replace all floor sheeting and seal. Then raise the floor level with yellow tongue re seal, then use cement in the shower area to create drainage. Then tile the whole floor area. Re: En Suite reno re building up the floor level 5Jul 13, 2013 8:06 pm Thanks for the tip Re Scyon I'd never heard of it. Will go and check it out at bunnings tomorrow.
