Just wondering if theres a way to locate copper pipes in a bricked wall. We've discovered that this was one stage of our build we neglected to take pictures of so now that our ensuite is tiled are trying to figure out where the pipes for the shower are in order to install a rail type shower head. Hitting a pipe wasn't a situation I wanted to endure and the mrs kinda half expected it seeing as I tend to be the unlucky one. Happy to report all went well.
One discovery though....10mm thick porcelain tiles are certainly a hard material to drill through. 4 holes took me about 2 hours to slowly make it through without damage to tiles....with the towel rails, gown hooks and mirrors to go i estimate another 8 holes to go. EEEK! Re: How to locate copper pipes in walls? 8Apr 30, 2008 1:57 am Go to Bunnings or a tool store and get a glass cutting bit. Looks nothing like a drill. Its a flat spade shaped, pointy bit with a diamond coating on it. Cuts through hard ceramics very easily.
Oh yeah, some smart cookie on this forum said to tape over the area first with masking tape, so you don't slip when starting the hole. Ash.
