Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 17, 2013 9:29 pm We are having walk in showers in all the bathrooms, hubby has suggested hanging the towel rails at the 'dry' end of the shower however I am unsure if they will get wet when in use. Does anyone else have these? Our showers will be 900x1740 and 900x1800 ... are towels likely to get wet hanging there? Re: Towel Rail in Shower 2May 17, 2013 9:53 pm The shower in our ensuite is 1000x1700, I find that probably the top half of the shower doesn't get wet, but the bottom does. I prefer having two single towel rails so it wouldn't work for me, but perhaps if you were having a double it MIGHT be ok. Probably still get condensation though? We have ours just on the shower wall on the outside of the shower so it's easy to reach, is that an option for you? 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Towel Rail in Shower 3May 19, 2013 5:01 pm Our ensuite shower has towel rails at the dry end of the walk in shower. Its 1750mm wide. We have mounted two rails one above the other and the towels don't get wet at all. We love it as you don't have to move to far to get your towel! Also depends on the shower head. If the shower head is small and comes out of the wall at an angle then its going to go everywhere. Our shower head is 400x400mm square and drops down from the overhead. The water falls straight down so doesn't splash anywhere near as much! In the ensuite we are having the roof mounted big square shower head, but also a hose one attached to the wall (for cleaning). However in the other bathrooms we are having wall mounted smaller nozzles, the ones on the hose to make it easier for cleaning. Re: Towel Rail in Shower 7May 21, 2013 8:51 pm Ours is a 'rain' shower head so drops straight down too - but I still manage to get water everywhere, as mentioned above. Is the builder installing them for you, or are you doing after handover? Maybe have a shower first and see where the water goes haha 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Towel Rail in Shower 9May 24, 2013 1:54 pm IMO have as little as possible "breaking" the tiles - ie screws etc etc. Re: Towel Rail in Shower 10Jan 10, 2014 5:02 pm Do you need a towel rail?? I've been using towel hooks for quite some time and you can be lot creative with these hooks. One need not have to tamper the tiles, just fix it accordingly away from the shower, so that it will be dry enough, and you can fix it in different alignments to make it unique. Check it out: http://www.dispenser.com/Robe-Hook/ I would always have a towel rail over a hook if possible. The towels dry a lot quicker and you have the option of a heated rail!
