Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 12, 2013 4:52 pm Hi, I'm having a problem with my builder. We've asked for hobless ensuite, a strip drain, single frameless piece of glass to divide the shower (no door) and 600x600 tiles. They said they would only do this design with 300x300 tiles and we would be required to add an another floor drain to the main ensuite floor. If we wanted larger tiles they would do up to 300x600 but only if we fitted a semi-frameless screen with door. This option didn't require the extra floor drain (because the water is contained in the shower). I said forget it, don't put any shower screen in and they said they can't do that. Apparently all of the above is due to "building code" rules they must follow. I don't have the rules so I don't know if it's true or not. I feel like we are getting bullied into what they want not what we want. Any advice appreciated. Cheers, Matt Re: bathroom code questions 2May 13, 2013 7:04 am Sorry not sure of the exact rules but I do know in some states bathrooms have to have a second floor drain. 600x600 tiles are easy to lay with a strip drain if you can make the fall only one way. If it has to fall any more than one way they 600x600 don't work and this is probably why they are saying 300x300s would be better. Where do you live? This will help those that might have the answer. The floor falls the same direction, so it was easy, and yes, it's 600 x 600 tiles. Have photos somewhere here, but some time ago. Hi All, see above image.
