Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 08, 2013 12:09 pm I have a kind of feature tile in my otherwise white tiled bathroom. The feature tile is a wood effect. Problem is, since grouting, the wood effect tiles are covered in a light white haze which no amount of elbow grease seems to remove. When it's wet the haze almost disappears but when it dries, there it is again. Any ideas? Re: White haze 2Apr 08, 2013 5:05 pm Is it a porous tile rather than hard vitrified glazed tile ? If it is, it has probably absorbed some of the grout which is slowly coming to the surface. Either that or is effloressence ( kind of like lime leaching out ). Stewie Re: White haze 3Apr 09, 2013 8:34 am Grout haze by the sounds of it. You could try some vinega 50/50 mix spray on and agitate keep wet and remove by rinsing or towel drying. I would recommend a test patch first to see if it works. If that fails you will need to try phosphoric acid you should be able to find it at any cleaning supply shop near you hopefully. Always do a test patch first hope this helps. Craig Re: White haze 5Apr 09, 2013 11:28 am Grout Perfect You could try some vinegar My spray bottle is broken so ill sort that out and report back but I just rubbed a little on as a test and it seems to have done the trick... Looks great now! 50/50 is with water I presume. Do u know why the water is necessary? Re: White haze 6Apr 09, 2013 12:02 pm Straight vinegar is probably too strong and may discolour the tiles/grout. Your bathroom would also smell like a fish n' chips shop. My other half sometimes uses this to clean the bathroom but I think she uses a 30:70 ratio vinegar to water mix. Lemon juice is also supposed to be a very good cleaning agent. Stewie Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable.
