Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 08, 2013 9:13 pm Hi all I've search high and low on google for how big you should make a European laundry so I'd really appreciate some help! The laundry is only going to be a washer and dryer behind doors but should I be allowing room around so I was thinking of doing it 700mm as a standard washer/dryer is 600mm...... Any help would be really appreciated, argh bathroom/laundry worse room to renovate!!!! jenjen Re: European laundry....help please 2Feb 09, 2013 12:26 am My European friend's laundry is the size of one and a half bedrooms I have no idea what you mean about making a European laundry. But it had a standard trough in a built in cabinet and our front loader fit next to it with about 5-10cm either side, the dryer was above the washing machine. There was Rob ably about 20- 30cm in front of the cabinet to where the doors opened. We had two bifolds, wich mich also give an idea of how wide it was. You could probably not have it as wide if you use a standard trough that isn't built into a cabinet. Re: European laundry....help please 4Apr 08, 2013 7:13 pm Hi I'm assuming the dimensions will depend on the size of your machines. Have you considered putting a trough behind another cupboard? European laundrys can be great but be careful because if you have kids you'll end up wishing you had somewhere to put all that laundry!!! We're considering having a European laundry but if we do we will also have pull out wire laundry baskets so laundry goes into white, coloured, darks, and one that isn't wired that is for soaking and can be lifted to be emptied into the trough. I hope these suggestions are useful Re: European laundry....help please 5Apr 09, 2013 7:18 am turtleschell My European friend's laundry is the size of one and a half bedrooms I have no idea what you mean about making a European laundry. All I know is they are always ridiculously huge. When I lived in Europe, London to be precise I didn't even have a laundry. Just a combo washer dryer in the kitchen next to e dishwasher! So it seems they can either be extremely large like your friends, non existent like mine or somewhere in between. Here in Australia though the term, rightly or wrongly seems to refer to a laundry in a cupboard. Guess Euro laundry sounds better to house marketing people. Re: European laundry....help please 6Aug 26, 2013 7:30 pm Our agent tried to tell us the house we were looking at had a 'European laundry'.... outside under the veranduh. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. The requirement is for a waterstop to be installed to the entries of the room, (a small aluminum 'L' angle to retain the water to within the room) can't see if they have… 1 1938 This is a very tight fit, I'm not sure if you'll be able to achieve what you've described. Would you consider accessing the separate toilet from the laundry? If so maybe… 1 11253 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4091 |
