Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 01, 2013 5:59 pm Hello, We have received our first draft of plans from our builder, and would like some suggestions on how to improve the bathroom layouts. This is the proposed ensuite to the master bedroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I don't like this layout, for one if you open the door you would just see a wall with a towel rail... Also would like a double shower and twin vanities if possible. The ensuite measures 3.3m by 2m. Can anyone suggest what a good set-up would be? I was thinking perhaps have the shower where the benchtop currently is, and move the benchtop to the towel-rail wall? I would probably get rid of the door, and just have an open ensuite. Also wanted to get some opinions on the guest bathroom layout: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The gaps either side of the bath look a bit strange. Maybe move the bath so it sits next to the toilet wall and extend the benchtop up. Or have the bath on the left hand side (where the benchtop currently is) and move the benchtop to the back wall? All ideas are welcome Scoofy Re: Help with bathroom layout 2Feb 01, 2013 9:47 pm scoofy I don't like this layout, for one if you open the door you would just see a wall with a towel rail... What would you like to see? You'll probably get two vanities in but a double shower is pushing it. Quote: Maybe move the bath so it sits next to the toilet wall and extend the benchtop up. I'd do this. Re: Help with bathroom layout 3Feb 02, 2013 8:34 am Try making some paper cutouts based on the plans and moving those aout until you find something you like. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: Help with bathroom layout 4Feb 02, 2013 4:43 pm d@n scoofy I don't like this layout, for one if you open the door you would just see a wall with a towel rail... Thanks Ashille, I'll give that a go. Had been working with tracing paper etc, but just having cutouts on the plans makes more sense Re: Help with bathroom layout 5Feb 06, 2013 9:07 am NP. I'm a tactile person I need to physically move things about. DH and I even built a 3D model out of cardboard of some land we were looing at using topographical data. I needed to get an idea of how steep the block actually was. There's been some flooding in the area, and we've done some basic on-paper stuff to see likely rises in a creek on the property. Geroge needs to be taled in to making a working model which we can release water in to (because it will be amusing and probably pointless) - good thing my man has a well developed sense of fun. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: Help with bathroom layout 6Feb 07, 2013 12:31 pm For the ensuite bathroom I would move the shower to a full length along the wall where you current vanity is. You should still have room for a double vanity along the towel rail wall. From the look of your plan you would need to move the door over to fit a full width shower in though. For the other bathroom are you having a free standing tub or a built-in tub? If you're going with a standard built-in, I would consider having the hob built to fit both walls at either end. You could extend the vanity bench over that end of the bathtub if you liked, and run the mirror the full length of the wall. I would definately try to extend the hob to the toilet wall as well though - otherwise it will just be a wasted space that will collect dust. At least with a large hob you can use it to put bath products or even some glass jars for decoration or something similar. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8413 You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15599 Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight.
