Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 28, 2013 8:13 pm Hi, I am a first time tiler and I am currently tiling the bathroom but I dont have the vanity made yet. It will be a wall hung vanity and I have a semi recessed basin. My question is, should I wait till I have the vanity before I tile the wall adjoining (to match the depth of the unit) or do I rely on the fact that I gave the cabinet maker the depth I want- therefore tile the wall now? Has anyone got any experience to share with me? Thanks Re: Wall Tiling next to the vanity 2Jan 28, 2013 10:19 pm Definitely wait for the vanity to be installed first. Whilst cabinet makers do make almost precise cabinetry, everybody makes mistakes and it could be fractionally out. Best to wait to its installed, that way you can lay your tiles to the exact depth, and won't have to do it again. Re: Wall Tiling next to the vanity 3Jan 29, 2013 10:54 am It depends on how the vanity is being made. I had my tiles done first and gave them an outline of the vanity. I then screwed the vanity to the wall(no tiles behind). There was a 5mm space between the carcuss and the tiles. The end panels and bench top was then scribed to the tiles for a perfect fit.
