Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 16, 2013 11:51 pm Hi, I have to order my bathroom vanity soon. Here is a drawing of my bathroom. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The space I have for the vanity is 1900mm. I'm going to buy a pre fab vanity. I'm debating whether to go 1500mm or 1800mm wall hung vanity (both have double sinks, I would prefer single). I like this 1500mm vanity, unfortunately it doesn't come in 1800mm http://www.allurebathrooms.com.au/vanity/LILY-1500W If I go 1500mm, what could I use to fill in the 400mm gap between the vanity and shower screen. I can't find a nice looking 1800mm wall hung vanity at a reasonable price. I prefer timber look, rather than white gloss. Please let me know if you have seen one. Thanks for any suggestions. Re: Bathroom vanity size 2Jan 17, 2013 8:40 am Do you have to fill the space? Could you centre the 1500mm and leace 200mm either side - it would make it easier to clean the shower screen that way <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Bathroom vanity size 3Jan 17, 2013 8:55 am Find a gorgeous basket or some such to use for laundry? Even a simple nice looking chair. I would butt the vanity against the walls, not the showerscreen, but that is an option. Would it look weird if there was a 200mm gap between the wall and the showerscreen (using 1500mm vanity). Re: Bathroom vanity size 5Jan 18, 2013 3:12 pm Or one of those bathroom timber shelving units - for towels and some nicer 'display' items. I think a gap might actually look just as good as butting right up - especially if you were only buying the 1800 to 'fill the gap'. HHCIB Re: Bathroom vanity size 6Jan 19, 2013 8:59 am What a fantastic idea. I was always going to tile from the vanity and have floor to ceiling tiles with cornices over tiles. This is the tile I have chosen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Based on your suggestion, maybe I could use a the same tile in a lighter colour (say cream) for the section 1500mm wide directly above the vanity. Should I also tile under the vanity with the different colour tile? I'm included to place the vanity in the middle because that way I can find a nice french provincial mirror such as It can it a little smaller or larger than the vanity and still be symmetrical to the vanity and wall. If the vanity is butted against the wall, the mirror will never be symmetrical to the wall. I think I'm sold! Re: Bathroom vanity size 7Jan 26, 2013 2:17 am Do also consider adding some storage space behind the mirrors. Worked wonders in clearing the clutter. Some detailed layout and ideas of the layout we used, posted at the link below http://hdbrenovation2009.blogspot.sg/20 ... ayout.html Re: Bathroom vanity size 9Oct 22, 2013 8:57 pm I should have updated this long ago.. all done, eventually settled on a slimline 1800mm wall hung vanity. They have pull open drawer with soft closing Blum runners. Even though it's slimline it holds quite a bit of toiletries (no complaints from the wife). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I would have preferred a basin that was shorter in height or recessed but as it's a slimline vanity, I couldn't use a recessed due to the traps, and wife didn't want a shallow basin. So in the end I really had no choice! Overall I'm pretty happy with the look and functionally of the vanity. The basins don't stick out that much visually once you have a few items on the vanity.
