Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 23, 2012 7:43 am We intend tiling to the ceiling in the bathroom/shower areas - but are unsure about the toilets - ie powder room etc. What do others think of this - would it be too "OTT" - or mauseleum like ? I've seen toilets tiled to the light switch but not to the ceiling. Most toilets seem to be just a row along the floor. Ideas / comments ??? We are definitely tiling floor to ceiling in the ensuite but not sure about the kids bathroom and powder. It's just the thought of what the builder is going to charge us to do it that's holding me back on that one. I know I can get it quoted at prestart but does anyone have a rough idea? Also do people think tiling the entire splashback in the laundry between the bench and overhead cupboards is worth it? Or would you floor to ceiling tile that too? We were about to change back to half walls. So - question - you don't feel hemmed in or awkward when the door is closed ? Sorry if that is personal ... It wasn't that much more for us SW - to option it. Re: Tiling in Ensuite / Powder Room / Toilet ? 6Dec 23, 2012 9:12 am That's good to know SM. I don't think you would feel any different about a wall of tiles or a wall of paint. Unless it was really dark colours I guess. Re: Tiling in Ensuite / Powder Room / Toilet ? 9Dec 23, 2012 8:36 pm I've seen some really cool toilets tiled to the ceiling but we chose just the skirting tile. We did to the ceiling in both bathroom and ensuite and love it. From memory it set us back $2000-3000. But, it's so worth it IMO. I also tiled the whole splash back in the laundry which I think helps it look more finished. my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Tiling in Ensuite / Powder Room / Toilet ? 10Dec 24, 2012 10:52 am tinkster I've seen some really cool toilets tiled to the ceiling but we chose just the skirting tile. Its sure to cost a fortune later. We're going with ceiling high. Mrs M actually visited a friends new place and it was done that way. Said it did look very grand indeed. I tend to go with the flow on colour, tile etc issues. Its safer ... Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 6973 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
