Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 09, 2008 12:33 pm Yes, we dont have a place for a towell rail. There is no more space, can you beleive that?
the place that i was thinking for the rail is beside the entry, and therefore, according to the builder is not appropriate. The only option is probably to put towel ring or towel holder see pic below Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My wife is against having such swivel thingy, but what options do we have? we wont go for towel ring. Here is our ENS, in case you have forgotten. Suggestion please. The red is the initial fixed double towel rail. The blue is the "plan" swivel towel holder Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 2Apr 09, 2008 12:38 pm What's the objection with the swivel thing?...if the problem is that you might walk into it....you can mount it higher so the towels are at eye level....or mount it so it swings the other way and you won't pierce anything precious....
May be a bit daggy? Does the window go to the floor? If not can you mount it on the wall below the window. On the front face of the vanity? mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 4Apr 09, 2008 12:42 pm rellie You can get great towel rails that hang over doors, we have one in our main bathroom. We got ours from Ikea but you can also get them from Howards Storage World. I think the plan shows a slider so that may be an issue....but the door hangers are great. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 5Apr 09, 2008 12:46 pm yes it is a sliding door. the fixed double rail will be partly "blocking" the entry. the windows is about 30cm from the floor, so not an option.
What do you mean by front of the vanity? they are cupboard and cabinet door, so no no too. Still hoping there is a solution Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 6Apr 09, 2008 1:03 pm i don't suppose it is too late too move the wall with the sliding door in it back about 80 - 100mm so then you could hang a fixed double towel rail there, you might then be able to get a towel heater and plug in off your vanity basin???
Failing that though I don't think it would take that much room where the red lines is??? It would then make the doorway opening at worst 620mm.. I hate those pocky outy towel rails, and your towels will never dry on them. WHY???? Get your builder to justify. Is it a legal issue? If they won't do it consider putting it there yourself after handover. Sounds like they are just being stupid about it. Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 9Apr 09, 2008 1:23 pm Hi 3x
the builder can put it in its original place, but advised that we dont. I think he just try to be helpful, but we probably wait until the walll tiling etc before decided what and where should we put the thing. Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 10Apr 09, 2008 1:29 pm The over the door hangers work equally well over the shower screen.
I currently use one to hang my towells. Also what I was thinking was one of these towell ladders to go in front of your window. Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 11Apr 09, 2008 1:46 pm Hi tam
Could you post links or picture so i can have clearer idea? arkrider and 3xtimes, the option to put the towel rail in the original position, is actually is not totally been ruled out, we just need to see when the tiling of the ENS is done. thanks. Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 13Apr 09, 2008 2:11 pm Oznow, I have 2 suggestions for you:
1). use a bamboo or timber ladder like Ladyice has used in her bathroom (below): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There are a few locations where you can position it......either beside the window, nearer the sliding door, or in front of the window, or my pref would be between the toilet and the shower screen?? But i suppose it depends on how much room you have there too? 2). secondly get yourself a chrome/stainless steel towel ladder (the more modern style- but you don't necessarily have to get one of the heated varieties) and wall mount it above the toilet??? It would need to be high enough so that the towels don't drape down too low to touch the toilet, alternatively you can fold the towels when you hang them... Anyway, my two bobs worth!! Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 15Apr 09, 2008 2:40 pm Tam Does anyone know where to get a good one? What about shops that sell cane, bamboo or Balinese inspired furniture? mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 16Apr 09, 2008 4:39 pm Tam, i've seen them in large K-mart and Target stores, you can get brown, black or i've also seen white. Also try Adairs and some decorating stores???
I've also seen them at The Warehouse, not sure if there's one near you though? Re: NO PLACE for towel rail!!!!! 17Apr 09, 2008 5:29 pm Oznow,
1 - we have towel rail in the main bath that is freestanding, doesnt take up much room and is stylish, got it from myer. 2 - in our current ensuite we have limited room like you, and we have a towel rail in front on the door like you would have and we get by fine. We dont ever knock it. I agree that putting the towel rail just inside the door is not the best place. I assume the 600 mm wide window in the enusite is a full height window (that is, from the floor up to normal window height) 1) If the 600 mm windows has (or could be made) to have a normal sill height then the best place for the towel rail would be beneath the window. 2) If the 600 mm window has a low sill height, what about a towel rail that bridges across the window? 3) Your shower look very large (900/950 x 1500?). If you put a towel rail inside the shower on the wall opposite the shower, I don't think you'll get much, if any water on it. You could also mount it a bit higher than normal to give it more protection. 4) The swivel towel holder doesn't solve your problem since it will protrude the same as before or more. Your last resort is the original location. Don't know how far your house has progressed, but what about swapping the window and "curren" towel rail locations? Not sure if moisture from the towels would be good for the clothes though?
