Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 25, 2012 8:44 am A bit of history. The laundry ceiling originally had a suspended grid system, which made the 10 year old unit look old. So we got someone (did a runner) to remove it, and replace it with plasterboard. Now the problem is the ceiling is sitting too low... when I open up the manhole I can see there is still an extra 100mm I can play around with. Even the manhole is the wrong position... right next to the light fitting. What are my chances of reusing the plastorboard? It's about 1500mm x 1500mm. Or is it cheap enough for me to buy? I've already spend over $500 on this, and don't want to really spend more. I will need to move the cheap metal joists they put in up 90mm as well. Furthermore, I noticed the exhaust fan is making a loud annoying humming noise... is this due to the joists not strong enough? It wasn't as bad with the grids, which might of dampened the noise? Any advice greatly appreciated. Re: Laundry ceiling 3Nov 26, 2012 6:44 am travelbug gyprock is very cherap. Not worth mucking around repairing holes etc. Easier to buy a new sheet. Spot on.
