Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 06, 2012 11:20 pm Why do most of the modern basins have the attached "bung" instead of removable plug? (sorry, don't know the correct terminology LOL) Our ensuite one regularly gets stuck at an angle and I have to scoop out the water and use the plunger to unplug it. Wondering if anyone else has this frustrating experience? Re: Plugs vs fixed bungs 2Nov 07, 2012 5:43 am Its a looks and function thing. They look so much better than a plug, nornamly work well and you cant loose them like a plug. You can actually dismantle them so its possible that yours is loose and not going up and down straight. I would sugest pulling it apart, cleaning it and then putting it back together. I've never lost one (where would you take it, really?) and they're easier for little hands to use so you dont have to put your arm in the bath when they're done lol! We had a bath with one of the bung thingies in it (I dunno what they're called either) and it got stuck, then pushed down too far, until the only way it would come out was for hubby to get the electric drill and drill into it then yank it out. End result being no plug for 12 months until we replaced the whole bath/shower unit. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. We have them in all the vanities and the bath. Remember there are cheap and nasty ones. They also can need some adjusting if they come loose.
