Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 30, 2012 11:40 pm Hi all, We were offered some pretty expensive shower head options at prestart and decided to go for one of the cheaper upgrades which is a rail shower - this one; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We both really wanted a rail type with hand shower and overhead but didnt really want to pay for the ridiculous price the builders charge. Even the prestart lady said we should just upgrade after handover at a later stage. But it's kind of dawned on us that this is not going to be possible? Our showers water comes from a separate location on the wall, whereas the dual ones seem to have the water come directly in from the rail?? Is there any way around this? Have been looking for a dual shower system that brings in the water from a hose like the one we've purchased, but can't seem to find anything - albeit a couple of cheap n nasty looking things on eBay from china. I have just taken a look and it seems like the shower models with the overhead shower and the hand shower mostly work with the inlet in the rail to easily divert water from one to the other. I am going to check with one of our suppliers to see if something like what you are after exists in Australia. I will keep you posted! Re: Shower question... 3Nov 02, 2012 10:12 pm Put the two in and opt for the cheapest shower heads possible. Then order with same thread from overseas. For the Grohe ones I am looking at they work out to be 1/3 of what the builder wants. Another way is a system that gets water from the wall outlet and then diverts to either the hand held or the rain shower. the pipes are all exposed. like this http://www.vitobertoni.com.au/VitoBerto ... alRnd.html Cheers Mark Re: Shower question... 4Nov 03, 2012 6:43 am Might be my age but I prefer the old shower head style. Don't like the hose type. I never seem to get a good shower from them. Are the hose ones cheaper or just in fashion today ? So I've managed to locate a number of systems on eBay - actually quite a lot, but the problem now is the distance between wall brackets. Ours will be 550mm apart, most of the dual systems are 650 - 750mm apart. Might have to let this idea go. Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. As it's a Hansgrohe, don't expect cheap... http://www.hansgrohe-int.com/productdet ... lang=en_GB Re: Shower question... 14Nov 10, 2012 6:05 am I saw a shower - quite long - with a shower head at either end - an "old style" one at one end and a "hose" style at the other. Not sure if it was practical or ever used as a double - except when they were first married ... but looked good. Re: Shower question... 15Nov 13, 2012 6:48 am I think I found what you're after! Check out this link http://www.argentaust.com.au/files/spec ... 7394B_.pdf. It is able to be retro fitted so the holes in your wall should be covered and you can use the water outlet that's been installed off to the side. It's not badly priced, it's Australian approved and the Grohe brand is great quality. Let me know if you want me to keep looking (although I have checked a lot of suppliers and this seems unique). I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
