Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 12, 2012 9:29 am Anyone got a toilet with the sink in the cistern? I really want one but a bit concerned that as the sink is quite small, does it get a bit messy with water going everywhere? Anyone used or have one? Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 3Oct 26, 2012 12:04 am I had to google this because I thought surely it could not be what it sounded like.. except it was EXACTLY what it sounded like What is the appeal if I may ask, is it the water saving? Either way, I would definitely get a stand alone sink. Even in tight spaces you can get a very small sink that wouldn't take up much space. It seems very off putting (and uncomfortable) to lean over the toilet to wash my hands.. but if you don't plan on selling anytime soon, then it really only matters what you think. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 4Oct 26, 2012 8:16 am Definitley water saving! I actually don't really want a sink in the toilet. But some people have told me its a must have. I guess i would only use it if the bathroom was occupied. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 5Oct 26, 2012 8:24 am My cousin has one in a small toilet he has which also has an outside door so when he is entertaining it's so convenient and saves people trecking through the house looking for a sink to wash their hands. You don't have to lean forward to use it and I don't think it's any more messy than any small sink. Go for it ... This makes me feel better! Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 7Oct 26, 2012 10:45 am I have used one at my friends house and at a restaurant. When I heard about them at first I wasn't sure about the concept but they are pretty good. The water comes out of the spout forcefully but I didn't find that it splashed even though the basin is small. The way that it works is the CLEAN water that would normally just get flushed is used to wash your hands and then it goes into the cistern where it flushes the toilet. It's pretty silly that we use perfectly good water to flush toilets so it is a good idea for water saving. It's a great space saver too. Both of the toilets that I have used were in a space where a small basin wouldn't have fit. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 9Oct 26, 2012 11:00 am I don't have one but have used them. I think it's a good idea unless the toilet is already in a room with a sink. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Toilet with Sink in Cistern 10Oct 26, 2012 12:24 pm We have one going in our ensuite due to having a bath and shower the toilet is now seperate with no room for a basin hence the decision. I think it works well. The water does come out quite fast so I think you would get splashing if children are using it, but adults shouldn't have any trouble keeping it neat. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 12Oct 29, 2012 8:11 am Thanks for all the comments. Sounds like a winner to me! Good to hear lots of others are using them also. A great water saver, esp as we are on tank water! Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 13Oct 29, 2012 1:28 pm My friend has one, it's brilliant! I am having one in my ensuite as the toilet will be seperated from the washing area for privacy reasons and no room for basin in the WC. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern - What brand? 14Oct 29, 2012 2:32 pm So i guess my next question should be... What brand do people have and recommend? Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 16Oct 31, 2012 8:08 am Yes, I think the Caroma Profile. I don't know if other brands do it yet but the Caroma one has been out for a few years so it's tried and tested. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 17Oct 31, 2012 8:40 am The water flow at the tap could be lessen by tightening the control valve. But this will also slow down the cistern refill rate and will be a problem during times when the toilet sees heavy usage (many visitors with small bowels). Alternatively, a flow-restrictor to the tap should reduce splashing. Next, thinl towel rack and hand towels. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 18Feb 02, 2013 9:18 am I want one of these! In situations where it would be too expensive to install a sink in the loo (and I'd like to minimise the number of doorknobs unwashed hands have to touch after the loo) it seems to be a great idea. Really, the fact that we fluch grade A water is kind of insane. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: Toilet with Sink in Cistern 20Feb 11, 2013 7:44 am As far as I understand it is just the once. The water keeps running until the cistern is full, as with a regular loo Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7010 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
