Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 01, 2012 8:06 pm Decided to replace the toilet at the weekend. Brought a Caroma profile 4 suite from Bunnings for a reasonable price. When I got it home I roughed it in to realise that when sitting on flat the floor the right handside was sitting about 5mm lower than the left. I pulled it out and put the level on the floor to see that the floor is nice and level. I then decided to install it and to make it level shimmed up the right handside on 4 places, so now have a nice level top. However the thing looked terrible with one side higher and despite using 4 shims it had a bit of movement. So took it out and decided to see what it was like just sitting on the floor 'out of level'. Looks wise it looks good, but when you sit on it you can really feel the slight tilt. So not really sure what to do. It looks to me as if the suite is not 100% true. Is this normal or should I say acceptable? Should I be taking it back to Bunnings or calling Coroma? Or is there something else I can do to have it look good and not feel like you are going to fall off the side? Re: Toilet not level 3Oct 02, 2012 8:04 am Take it back to BGS and then call Caroma and complain! I have also noticed their products not to be "quite" for whatever reason, but this is over the top. Re: Toilet not level 4Oct 10, 2012 7:17 pm Thanks for the advice, took it back last weekend and got a new one, more or less no questions asked. Oddly however went to visit my old mum on the way home and she lives in a newly (late 2010) built home designed for elderly and disabled people and when I was taking a leak noticed that the water in the toilet wasn't 'even'. Then had a closer look and it seems as if this pan (also by Caroma) was also slightly out. Next time took the level and yep floor level, top level but one side slightly built up, hence why the water inside was slightly off. Re: Toilet not level 5Oct 11, 2012 7:44 am Serial offenders ... Our vanity basins always looked suspicious to me ... like the oval was not totally symmetrical ... now I think I'm right. Lucky I haven't noticed any water level issues - so far!! and I'm one of those who can spot a 1mm diversion on about 1-2m lengths My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Toilet not level 7Nov 01, 2012 7:10 am As a semi-retired builder , over the years I've seen lots of bathroom products come out that were not perfectly symmetrical from both the cheap local to the outrageously expensive "designer" European ones. I doubt that you will find one that is perfect. Unless you get out your square , level and/or tape I doubt very much once installed that you would pick it up. I think there are a lot bigger issues to worry about. "Lol funny" indeed Fitzy ! Stewie Re: Toilet not level 8Nov 01, 2012 8:55 am Whilst there may well be bigger issues, beleive me sitting on a dunny that is even a poofteenth out just doesn't feel right. I also object to having to build the base up on one side just to make it sit level when the product itself is what is out. Whilst I don't expect things like this to be perfect, considering the way they are made, I do expect the tollerances to be a bit better than what this dunny was. At least the replacement sits level, feels level and looks level. Re: Toilet not level 9Nov 01, 2012 9:35 am As long as the top was spot on for level , to me all the rest is just being pedantic. A lot of the bathrooms we've done the toilet can sometimes be on part of the floor that is sloping towards the floor waste so is going to not look "perfect" anyway. But that's just me... Something looking good is just being pedantic! Not. Re: Toilet not level 14Nov 05, 2012 1:42 pm Quote: And what happens if the toilet slope (defect) and bathroom slope are in the same direction. Stewie Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7006 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
