Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 23, 2012 3:14 pm We need to decide on lights & fan positions and would like to get some input on where to place IXL or a separate exhaust fan and lights in our ensuite. Here is the plan of the ensuite. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We will have2 narrow windows up high on 2 sides of walls. (Pls ignore the door near the toilet. Only one entry to the ensuite.) There will be no shower screen so it's a walk-in shower recess. We will have downlights over the bathtub and vanity, and near the toilet. We wanted IXL in the shower recess but apparently this cannot be done due to the shower being too close. The builder suggested to put the IXL in between bathtub and the vanity but a) we have enough lights there already b) I think the fan is too far from the shower where its needed. Should we place IXL just outside the shower recess where we will be drying ourselves? Or should we have a waterproof downlight in the shower recess and an exhaust fan just outside the shower recess? Can we put a bathroom exhaust fan in the shower recess? The best place for the exhaust fan must be as close to as the shower and away from the door & windows?? Thank you in advance. Re: Ideal location of IXL/exhaust fan?? 2Sep 24, 2012 7:48 pm I would put the IXL just outside the shower as suggested and the fan within the shower recess. @builderforlife Building inspector and passionate about construction When you need an expert to take a look.
