Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 22, 2012 7:58 pm Hi everyone. Im new to this forum and have had a quick squiz through but cant seem to find my answer. I am renovating my bathroom and we have decided on a frameless shower on a current wooden floor. (it will not remain wooden)What is the best way to build the base? ive heard a few different things but so far they all seem confusing! we will be having a tiled floor. Im concerned mostly about the waterproofing of the floor inside the shower. Do we use a counter sink, build it out of mortar? im really unsure how to start it! Please help? Or provide me with a link to a previous post with answers? Thanks Mel Re: frameless shower screen how to build on wooden floor? 3Sep 23, 2012 6:42 am Two of my bathrooms are upstairs on the man made wooden floor. It was firstly fully water proofed with aluminium angle placed in the door ways. It was then fully screeded with 30mm to get the levels right and then tiled. Our showers are walk ins with no doors and no steps! I like the idea of the shower bases but than can give a few problems. Its not really needed either. The ensuite floor is Jarrah boards as it's a continuation of the master bedroom which is open plan. The floor is some form of waterproof fibre board (I'll need to check with my builder) and then tiles a colour similar to the jarrah. I will post some pics once I get somewhere to put them..... 2 4496 Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass.
