Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 19, 2012 10:55 pm Further to my previous post about the bathroom layout and using the following tile on floors and walls, I wondered if anyone has used Lapatto tiles (which is a soft polished or semi polished porcelain tile) in their wet areas and if so, is it a good or bad idea in terms of keeping clean and water marks etc? Building the Autern 005 with urbanedge Homes Re: Lapatto Tiles in bathroom - Good or Bad idea? 2Sep 20, 2012 12:17 am I have ordered lapatto tiles for all the tiled areas inside our house ( including all wet areas) and matt porcelain for balconies and garage. I have 2 small children so I was always concerned about them slipping over on wet tiles. I do believe they are less slippery when wet than full polished porcelain tiles but not quite as grippy as matt. We tested our sample tiles for staining with different things ( cola, juice, BBQ sauce, curry, crayons, textas, etc) and they cleaned up really well. Ours are Spanish in origin. In terms of water marks they look like they would be much easier to keep looking clean. I had creamy coloured full gloss polished porcelain in my last house and the water marks after mopping were horrendous! They also showed up footprints, smudges and dust very easily. Thanks so much for responding! I also have 2 babies and am very concerned about them slipping if we used Polished porcelain in wet areas which is the reason why we want to go with Lapatto. Very excited and happy to hear that you did a full test with all those products and it still came up well! Thank u so much! You have seen our colour a dark grey, we have it on the floor and shower wall in our ensuite, and white on all the other walls, floor to ceiling. In regards to cleaning, we have matching grout and silicone so so far so good, we do get some water marks on the tiles but not too bad, my other three bathrooms have polished porcelain (same as alto ash from Beaumont)on the floor, they show no water marks, easy to clean, no problems at all with being slippery. Hope that helps! Lapatto Tiles in bathroom - Good or Bad idea? 6Sep 20, 2012 6:31 pm Hi, we too have used lapatto in all of our living, laundry and bathrooms. Our house is about 4 weeks off finishing so I will know then how they go. I tested the sample tiles for about 2 weeks for staining and ease of cleaning and was happy with the results. We have used 600 x 600 sandstone coloured tiles and extremely happy with the look and feel of them but I can tell you more when we move in about 4 weeks time. Re: Lapatto Tiles in bathroom - Good or Bad idea? 7Nov 12, 2012 3:10 pm I work in a display home at the new Warralily Estate @ Armstrong Creek in Geelong and we have these semi gloss lapatto tiles in the entry foyer through to kitchen and open plan dining area, as well as in both bathrooms. They are fabulous, hardwearing and as they have a textured and coloured surface, don't show the dirt much. I would always avoid using plain white tiles in bathrooms, especially on the floor where lint shows up worst on white. How are the tiles going? PebbleInteriors thank you so much for your response. I am so incredibly confident with our choice now!! I do prefer the darker colours, but find that after instalation they may end up with a bit of grout haze after cleaning. Just a quick like 10 part water to 1 part acid wash and presto all done. In our showroom they have been down a year and we ever hardly mop them just a quick sweep. Cheers Lapatto Tiles in bathroom - Good or Bad idea? 10Nov 21, 2012 6:09 pm Crystally, yes we have moved in our new house and loving our tiles. They are fantastic in wet areas and I'm surprised how easy they are to keep clean. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.
