Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 23, 2012 9:33 pm We are getting a vanity for our ensuite bathroom, and were looking at the Romance single vanity from Recollections. But, I'm not sure of the quality of their vanities. They seem sturdy enough, but I'm a bit wary of a vanity top made of wood, and the package includes tapware and all that too. Has anybody here bought one, and had any problems? We were also looking at a vanity from the same manufacturer as sold at Schots (but from a local supplier), which is obviously a level up in workmanship, and has a marble top and extra storage. But it's about three times as expensive, and a bit of a tight fit in the space. But then again, I don't want to buy a cheap vanity and find out in three or five years that the wood's waterlogged and the taps are rusty. So, it'd be great to hear from someone who's bought one from Recollections, whether they're any good. Thanks, ~Melanie. Re: Anyone got a vanity from Recollections? 2Sep 04, 2012 11:23 pm Sorry I can't help regarding quality, but I too am wondering same. When I was in the store looking another customer said she was happy with her vanity but didn't recommend the tapware that came with it. Re: Anyone got a vanity from Recollections? 3Sep 04, 2012 11:52 pm My Mum and Dad have a vanity and tap ware they purchased from Recollections. They did a bathroom Reno at least 5 years ago. I believe my Dad repainted the vanity in marine grade paint, and it still looks perfect...but there are no kids living in the house! The taps are perfect and certainly have not gone rusty. This is in a house by the sea, too. Being a wood surface, you would have to make sure the silicon surrounding the basin is always in good nick and no water is left to pool on the top. Mum wipes it down daily, but it's just the 2 of them, no kids and not much splash! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Timber and water do not mix. My husband has worked in the timber industry for 20+ years. We have timber tops on our laundry and bathroom cupboards. They dont look too bad but wont last forever. I also have 2 pedestal basins from Recollections as well as a bunch of taps etc. Most of it is brass and has tarnished a fair bit but that will happen anyway. good luck If so what were the "special circumstances" under which it was granted?
