Gday all,
Just finishing the last bit of my laundry reno which involves replacing the existing toilet.
The existing S Trap toilet currently sits on a concrete base raised between 10-20mm. Previously the toilet the floor was just lino so that's been lifted to expose the original concrete slab.
My plan is to pull out the existing toilet and remove it's old concrete base. I will then be tiling underneath where the new toilet goes, ensuring the tiles are spot on level. The surface of the tiles will end up at approximately the same height as the top of the current concrete base.
My question to the experts here are:
- is the original concrete base necessary or was it just to level the toilet?
- if make sure the tiles are level can I place the new toilet directly onto the tiles, i would use some kind of silicone around the base just to minimise the contact between the toilet and tiles
- any other tips with installing the new toilet?
Unfortunately my usual source of DIY info, youtube, doesnt help a whole lot because they're all American, and in America they use wax seals, which is completely different to what I've got on mine.
Thanks in advance
