Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 23, 2012 12:52 pm Hello, I have a house from the 1950's which had a new electric hot water system installed in 2007. When using the shower we get very low pressure. I have measured the flow rate to be around 1.5 litres per minute. Great for the power bill, not so great on cold winter mornings. The strange thing is, if the water is being used anywhere else in the house at the same time as you are in the shower the pressure in the shower actually INCREASES. Flush the toilet and suddenly the shower wakes up and the flow rate feels like it has at least doubled. Same thing when using the washing machine or dish washer. Any idea whats going on? Just ideas to look at, nothing concrete! 2 Shower Pressure - strange problem 6Jul 12, 2012 12:51 am If you have a mixer on the shower it could also be a calcium (or similar deposit) build up inside the mixer. I work on ships and as soon as we start loosing pressure at the shower head or the temperature control starts being ineffective, 99.9% of the time it just takes stripping down the mixer, cleaning and then re-assembling it and it works perfect. BUT I'm not sure how this is effected by running other taps Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs. This… 10 13662 Building Standards; Getting It Right! Thank you for the generous offer.
