Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 07, 2012 10:44 pm Hi all! We are first time home owners in Melbourne and are about to receive the keys! Very exciting. We are going to spruce up the house a little before we move in; fresh paint, new carpet and ... renovate the en-suite! Below I have given links to the current layout and five suggested layouts we have come up with given the fact we have never designed a layout for a room before. What are your thoughts on the suggested layouts, and is there a particular layout you would suggest we move forward with? Matt Re: Suggestions on en-suite layout (includes pics) 2Jul 07, 2012 11:59 pm For me it would be idea 4 but i would not have the sliding door to the shower as it looks long enough and use the far end as a towel off area I am not a fan of seeing the toilet when you open the door. Just my thoughts.... Ciao Mark Suggestions on en-suite layout (includes pics) 3Jul 08, 2012 1:52 pm I like idea 4 also. Toilet is tucked away behind door which I personally think is a better look. Re: Suggestions on en-suite layout (includes pics) 7Jul 11, 2012 10:54 pm towels over the heating vent should help dry the towels and also make them warm when you get out of the shower.... without any additional input required! I like # 4 also.. but can I clarify which wall the door is on? Is it located on the right hand wall, or on the top? I'm a bit confused how the door swings too. Agreed no need for the sliding door on shower. I would almost keep the same layout but make the shower frameless and put the Glass screen between the toilet and the shower. What did you end up doing? Re: Suggestions on en-suite layout (includes pics) 9Aug 12, 2012 6:36 pm I think layout 4 works best for the room Re: Suggestions on en-suite layout (includes pics) 10Aug 19, 2012 4:04 am #2 is almost exactly how my ensuite is being built right now... As long as u have a minimum of 600mm from corner of vanity and fixed glass it will work i feel What is actual room dimensions? (sorry if i missed it) Check out our blog below! We have one in our ensuite (which I never actually use! I've always used the main bathroom). The end of the shower away from the showerhead doesn't get as much soap scum & mold as the showerhead end, but it does get much more than rest of bathroom. So think about cleaning the shower - if you make it twice as big you have twice as much to clean! I've now looked at what everyone else said & I see 4 is popular. It does seem to have more floorspace than 3 but it also has a smaller vanity & a long & narrow shower. 3 gives you a big shower which will feel spacious, whereas a long narrow shower like 4 & 5 only give you more space in one direction. if 3 had a shower the same width as 4 & a vanity the same size it would give you more floorspace. You have to decide if you want big shower or big vanity or bigger floor area. Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6138 Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8413 You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15599 |
