Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 11, 2012 5:35 pm We decided to have a fixed shower head in our ensuite and upstairs bathroom for some unknown reason. I guess because they look so nice in magazines and display homes. Anyway, today is the day that they were installed, but I'm not convinced they have been put in the best spot ( the term "best" being quite subjective). In all magazines I have seen and display homes the shower rail is to the left or to the right of the fixed shower head. But ours has been installed in the centre line right below the shower head. To me this is visually unappealing. Having it is such an arrangement they almost look like the fixed head and rail are one piece, separation would have highlighted the design details of each unit. At no stage were we asked where we want them, which I dont think would have been too much to ask. Am I being too picky with the positioning or do others agree? I do agree though that the hand shower in your case would be better off on the left wall. Personally though I prefer just the overhead shower, and leave the hand shower to the bath. Re: Position of shower rail 3May 11, 2012 10:31 pm Thanks for your comments PHL. I have been busy going through magazines and internet pictures and single piece shower rose/shower rails aside, I have not seen anyone put the shower rail inline with the fixed shower rose. It just doesnt look right. Re: Position of shower rail 4May 11, 2012 11:49 pm Only issue i see is that it's too close to the wall. While showering your shoulder is touching the left wall.. While showering your shoulder is touching the left wall.. hmmm, that's a bit of a problem. 370 from the left and 630 from the right. I think I'll have a chat to the plumber next week Position of shower rail 6May 12, 2012 9:45 pm Unfortunately I think it's too late to do anything about it as you'll have to rip off the tiles, plasterboard and waterproofing to move it. But it really should be centre of the shower. I doubt it would state it must be centre of the shower in the contract. Seems like the plumber, person hanging the plaster and the tiler didn't care, as each of them could have advised you about it before they did their bit. I don't think it's a big deal that the fixed shower head and shower rail are in-line. My biggest concern would be that I would be hitting the wall all the time while I washed/rinsed my hair because they didn't centre the shower fixtures in the first place ....
