Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 24, 2012 9:38 pm Hi all, hoping for some advice for our small bathroom reno... The room dimensions are currently 1400x2400. My partner and I are in discussions about our requirements, he doesn't want a shower inside the bathtub, and could do without the bath, but i really want a bathtub. We thought that extending out the wall to bring the dimensions to 1400x3700 would help, but due to the narrow nature of the layout, we're still unsure. The house is a double brick federation in Sydney. We were thinking of having a frameless / doorless shower screen next to the vanity, between the vanity and the bath, as shown below, although with only 1400mm in width, it really doesn't leave much room for movement. Shower screen being around 900, it only leaves 500. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any thoughts, idea's of how we can win/win with this layout??? Help needed to help ease my stress and frustration. We settle in 3 weeks! Regards, Jenfur74 Re: HELP with narrow bathroom renovation 3Apr 29, 2012 8:57 pm We are currently renovating our bathroom and the layout is very similar except that our toilet is near the bath on same side as vanity. Our shower will be in the bath on same side as toilet and vanity. Personally I don't mind shower in bath and as we have lived 5 years without a bath, I am really excited about finally having one. Since you mentioned that you want a bath I think you will really regret not having one! Anyway, good luck with it all, there are plenty of fabbo websites and apps out there with brilliant small bathroom solutions! No rest for the wicked! Re: HELP with narrow bathroom renovation 4May 14, 2012 12:16 pm It seems like you are trying to fit a lot in, with 2 sinks and a separate shower and bath, is this your only bathroom? In one of our small bathrooms we have a corner spa bath sunken into floor with a shower giving more room when showering and not feeling so closed in, you could change the door to hang the other way so it doesn't feel so small if the door is open and hang a mirror the full width of the bathroom (side with no fittings) to make it appear larger. Do you need any bathroom storage or are you just having it under the sink? Re: HELP with narrow bathroom renovation 7Aug 07, 2012 10:20 am jenfur74 Shower screen being around 900, it only leaves 500. We have a very similar idea, but where you are having a screen we are having a wall and a hindged door. Personally, I would make a wall of glass across the room with a door i.e 700mm is door and the rest being a fixed panel next to the basins (which should extend a tad beyond them assuming a depth of 500mm). My bathroom is 1730 wide and 2020 long. If you are curious to see what it looks like, check out my build thread. I have posted the plans for it and some progress pics. In my opinion a 500mm space to walk through is a bit small. I wouldn't want to go smaller than 630mm i.e. the width of a toilet door. Having a fixed panel and a door, would be more expensive than a fixed screen, but I think it would be worth it. This is a very tight fit, I'm not sure if you'll be able to achieve what you've described. Would you consider accessing the separate toilet from the laundry? If so maybe… 1 13136 I recently went through a similar renovation and move scenario when updating our family home. We also swapped some rooms around and tackled a major… 2 10351 Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8332 |
