Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 23, 2012 5:32 pm Hi all, we renovated our bathroom a couple of years ago & had the shower made hobless (due to elderly parents visiting - for easier access) our problem is that the tiler didnt scree the floor correctly to flow the water into the waste so the water from the shower sits on the floor without draining. the water actually drains to the right of the waste, because this is the 2nd bathroom we didnt actually notice it until the shower was used by visitors. I like the look of the bathroom & the hobless shower makes a very small bathroom look much larger. Has anyone got any ideas on how we can at least contain the water in the shower area so that the rest of the bathroom floor stays dry (it doesnt leak out under the door but comes pretty close). Is there anything we can glue or fix down such as a soft hob or any ideas on something removable (the bathroom doesnt get much use. I did think of the new trench wastes that are out now but of course if the fall of the floor isnt good then it will just sit in the trench & it might be too costly to install. You could try and silicon inside to stop the water getting out if thats the issue. But before yuou do that it has to be 100% dry under the door frame. There is no other way really. Re: hobless shower problem 3Apr 26, 2012 5:56 pm Depends on how much effort you want to go to but something like this might work http://www.drybase.com.au/ but obviously you would need to rip up the existing tiles etc Or you could just provide a squeegee broom Re: hobless shower problem 4Apr 26, 2012 9:58 pm We reblocked a home recently and the shower base which had been laid whilst the home was sunk, no longer drained when it was level!! The owner applied a plastic strip as a sort of small soft hob. Not pretty but certainly effective @builderforlife Building inspector and passionate about construction When you need an expert to take a look. Re: hobless shower problem 5Jul 10, 2012 11:29 am You can get what is called a half round. Basically a half-circle strip that is about 6-8mm high that you can get in clear to help stop the water. You can get them from bathroom architectural fitting type places pretty cheap. I don't work for them, but we use either a HR1 or a HR2 from these guys. They come in clear, chrome, satin etc. http://www.fethers.com/Products/Framele ... seals.aspx 2 5838 I don’t think so as the floor area over 300 square meters then it is class 3…. 12 17934 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
