Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 17, 2012 9:44 pm Hello, We are redesigning our bathroom and have a blank canvas. We want a good working bathroom for a future family. No need to include a toilet as it is located outside the bathroom. We also want a walk-in shower if possible. Am very open to suggestions and who love to see some ideas if anyone has them Excuse me if the photo doesn't post the first time, I am pretty new to all of this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 4Mar 18, 2012 7:09 am Noooo don't do a corner bath!! They are horrid LOL. If you have kids they are terrible to bathe them in one, are a pain to clean and normally use huge amounts of water to fill. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 5Mar 18, 2012 7:24 am ^^^^ Yes, agree!!! For all the reasons mentioned... plus you can't even stetch out in them and relax. Everyone loves a chance to help design. Just to help everyone out a little: What is the width of the door?? Room left on that wall??? What is the exact size and placement of the window? Is it your only bath in the house? Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 7Mar 18, 2012 8:52 am If we can fit a standard bath over a corner bath, I am happy. I actually had a similar design to the one posted as well, using the corner. But I left our one design was blocking any other creative ideas. Hence why I posted it on here for you guys... What is the width of the door?? I am not sure. 1m? Room left on that wall??? Yep, a room to the Left. Kitchen to the Right What is the exact size and placement of the window? The size of the window is 600x900 I believe. It is central along that wall. Is it your only bath in the house? Yes Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 8Mar 18, 2012 10:29 am Haha, Spa corner bath suits us, as we only ever use it as a spa, not a bath. We din't have kids and I imagine it would be a pain using it for toddlers. A normal bath in you bathroom was a bit difficult to fit. . . Can you tell me what size bath you're after? Can we move the cavity sliding door slightly? Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 9Mar 18, 2012 1:13 pm Hello, Sorry, the door cannot move. As for the bath size, I guess the biggest we can fit. I wouldn't want it to be under a 1500mm size I guess. Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 11Mar 18, 2012 3:37 pm Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 12Mar 18, 2012 8:02 pm jodge Do you like freestanding baths? Double or single vanity? No freestanding bath or single vanity. Rocketship, would you have a screen in between the bath and the shower? Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 13Mar 18, 2012 9:33 pm Yeah, you could do frameless screens at end and between bath and shower (with or without a door - I prefer door but I think you mentioned open shower). You could do a tiled wall but I was thinking about natural light into the shower area and a solid wall at the end of the shower might make the room look very small. You could have a 1525mm bath with small surround. I'm sure that there are other solutions. I hope you get some more ideas from others. Good luck - I'm not sure why my pic isn't showing up properly - sorry! Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 14Mar 22, 2012 9:27 pm dont make your bath too big - I spent $2K on a clawfoot that was 6 foot long - absolutely loved the look of it - we were renovating our house with antique furniture and it looked beautiful. However when you get in the bath - its too long! theres nothing to put your feet on to hold yourself up. When reading a book or having a glass of wine it just didnt work - I just kept sliding down into the water LOL - 1500 should be good though Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 15Mar 23, 2012 7:45 am Auds - our freestanding one is the same. DH loves it but I slide too much as I am not tall enough to reach the other end and balance myself. Yet another reason I hate baths. Give me a shower any day. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 16Mar 23, 2012 3:13 pm Hi, Just had a little play and came up this this. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You could have your vanity bench go over your bath area, which would create extra bench space. You could tile around your bath, giving you extra space at the end to place something nice to decorate, your bathroom area. You would have a large wall area to put your towel rail Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 18Mar 24, 2012 2:13 pm Looks like a good set up. 2 things to consider: - where will you put your towel rail? - I'm not sure of exactly how high your window is but I would be concerned with an open shower like this that the timber around your window will get wet and could cause issues. I'm not an expert so might be worth investigating. I'm sure it must be able to be done. I have a relative who has a full length window in his shower. It may need some sort of waterproofing!!! By the way, I know you said no freestanding bath but this layout seems like it would be nice with a freestanding bath. You could put a lovely low wall niche next to the bath with a nice simple feature tile in it would be nice!!! Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 19Mar 25, 2012 10:05 am There is a possibility that window can move closer to the bath as it will be a new window. Not all the way along, but it could possibly move about half way over, creating so extra space in the open shower area. Would it look weird to have a towel rail under a window? Depending on its height of course... Re: Blank Canvas. Help Design Our Bathroom 20Mar 25, 2012 5:17 pm I don't think it would look weird, I would just be concerned it wouldn't stay dry while I was in the open shower!!! You could have a robe hook close to the bath (away from the shower head but within reach) and then a full rail on the wall next to the door. G'day I'm trying to put in some privacy screening on my rental rooftop on a tight budget. I've already invested about $500 in the supplies for this. The issue is… 0 32239 All 3 items listed are defects and are of concern. Please seek qualified independent inspector and/or legal advice for your state. 1 8203 This is a very tight fit, I'm not sure if you'll be able to achieve what you've described. Would you consider accessing the separate toilet from the laundry? If so maybe… 1 11228 |
