Due to termite damage, the house was re-framed, and new walls put up. I'll try and get some photos; hopefully they haven't been tiled over. Re: Distance tile back from wall 5Mar 03, 2012 3:42 pm Okay, here's the photo. http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o563/PHL2012/IMG_0094.jpg The Gyprock and tile is about 10mm thick I think. Re: Distance tile back from wall 7May 30, 2012 7:08 pm Ok no problems at all!! You have actually had a tiler that knows what he is doing. The method to fix the wall tiles is called the dab method. They put large dobs of glue onto the back of the tile and then fix it to the wall. It allows them to get the walls perfectly level and straight. This method is used especially when you have large tiles(600x300). My tiler has just finished 3 bathrooms at my house and he did all the wall tiles like this. One of my walls had a 30mm bow in it!. It is now perfectly straight. No need to worry, its a good thing! To be fair, they were large tiles, 600 x 600, and pretty heavy. Also the tiles were not totally flat, as they are reproduction of Travertine Marble, and due to manufacturing method, there are supposedly over 60 variations, so no two tiles are the same (to mimic real Travertine, but without having to seal). Will CEK be at the show this weekend? Re: Distance tile back from wall 9May 31, 2012 7:15 am PHL Except it's a new wall, and according to the builder, is straight and square... Will CEK be at the show this weekend? Trust me your builder is wrong!!! No wall is ever straight level or square. They are all out slightly. I fit kitchens every day of the week to new houses and 1 in 1000 walls might be close to being right. The rest are out! We have just finised building a new house and a couple of our bathroom walls had 15-20mm bows in them over 3000mm. With large tiles even being out 10mm can cause alot of trouble. No sorry wont be at the show. I have been working 15hour days getting our house ready. I am pouring footings today for a driveway retaining wall and building the wall over the weekend.
