Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 29, 2012 8:07 pm I really like the Caroma liano under bench basin but I'm a little concerned that in order to have that basin, I might need to get a custom made vanity unit (1500mm long, likely to be double sink). How hideously expensive is it to get a custom-made vanity? Should I be thinking $1500+, $2000+ and kiss my dream good-bye? Otherwise, how does one find a vanity cabinet where you simply provide the sink and benchtop? Thanks in advance Peta Re: custom made vanity cabinets 2Mar 01, 2012 6:57 am Will the vanity be wall hung or have a kickboard? How many drawers? Custom made does cost a fair bit more than off the shelf BUT if its wall hung and a simple design you should be able to get it for around $1000-$1300 Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com Re: custom made vanity cabinets 3Mar 03, 2012 10:04 pm One quote, for a 30 mm CS top, 2 sinks with a cupboards and 2 drawers each side, separated by a narrow open shelf, 2.4m wide, 550mm deep, at 900mm high resting on a supplied 200 mm plint in the back (so it looks wall hung), in polyurethane, we supply sinks and taps: $5000. For another bathroom, single sink, which is semi-recessed (so the CS is about 300 deep) and 1.2m wide, similar setup to above in that we supply sink and tap: $4000. In this case, we have decided to buy a Duravit Starck 1 sink and vanity (in walnut), as it was cheaper. I'll start seriously hunting around for a pre-made vanity. As much as I like those basins, I don't like them that much, LOL! 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! Am expecting another quote back from another company, whose designer we actually liked after meeting with him, as he pointed out drawbacks, new ideas to improve what we wanted to do, and suggestions on bringing the price down without reducing quality. We ended up going with a cabinetmaker recommended by the builder as the price difference ended up being $10K. There is some additional cost from Tip-On I expect, as well as gloss finish. At this stage, I haven't thought too much about the style of the drawer but possibly the fronts might be the type with sharknosed handles. Alternatively, straight edge laminated doors (2mm edge). 30mm stone bench with the Liano basin. What do you think? Too much? If the centre drawers are too much, would swap that to a cupboard with 1 internal shelf. 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... There is alot of extra work to make 2 x drawers and then have cutouts in them for plumbing. The prices I have done are based on a centre door. I reckon that's affordable, especially if we can source stone from the offcuts website. I saw a 1500mm vanity at Reece over the weekend and it was $1900 anyway. I am using that as my base price to convince DH to go with a custom made vanity .... ETA : when you say polyurethene, does that mean painted, like a 2-pac paint job? Or does that mean plastic-thermal wrapped? 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase ....
