Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 29, 2012 8:00 pm Any recommendations for heated towel racks? And if so, a link to a website so I can check it out. Seems like there are a huge number out there and I just don't know where to start. I also don't know anyone who has one, so have no-one to ask about what I should consider. Plan to get it hardwired into position with a switch on the wall nearby (ie. no cord visible) Thanks in advance Peta Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 2Feb 29, 2012 8:12 pm We got ours through http://www.heatedtowelrails.net.au/index.htm and ultimately through the place in Dandenong. Can't advise how good they are as yet.....it has only just been installed and our handover is next week. We were advised of this website through a lady from Reece plumbing..... after she could only show me a couple and those were very $$$ Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 3Feb 29, 2012 8:47 pm Eiffel We got ours through http://www.heatedtowelrails.net.au/index.htm and ultimately through the place in Dandenong. I'm happily browsing through it all. Thanks again! Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 4Feb 29, 2012 8:48 pm No worries - their prices were a little more budget friendly than what else I was able to find out there! good luck! Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 5Mar 02, 2012 11:11 pm Ours are Omega (ladder-style) and have been perfect over the past three years. We have them plugged into power points, but any electrician can hardwire them. I got mine via an online auction house, from memory for about $90.... They're comparatively expensive to run, so we have them plugged into simple timers that switch on between 6:00am and 8:00am. You may want to consider the cost and either install a hardwired timer, or just plug them into a basic timer like ours. These things are a BIG waste of power if they're on all the time. I had wondered about that. Thanks for the suggestion, great idea. I think we will do similar. have seen some heated towel rails on greys online and was wondering if they were any good. They were around the $100 mark .... 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 7Mar 04, 2012 7:59 am I got mine from Greys. Make sure you factor in the "buyer's premium" when comparing prices. From memory, I picked up our 11-bar one for $89 and the 7-bar one in the kids bathroom for $110. Three years on, I have no complaints. Of course, I haven't used them for months - we turn them off over summer. Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 8Mar 10, 2012 6:21 pm Pete_n_Pet Any recommendations for heated towel racks? Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 11Mar 13, 2012 6:51 am Plan to get it hardwired into position with a switch on the wall nearby (ie. no cord visible) Hi, I got mine from Radiant, I purchased the timer switch also and it is hardwired. We have the timer switch installed just beside our heated towel rail. I purchased model number RTR02 which is 600mm wide, to allow enough space beside it to put the timer switch. If I was to do it again I would have purchased model number RTR04, which is 750mm wide. I could have popped the timer switch just behind the towel rail, as it would have been still easy to access. I have posted some photos of my towel rail and timer switch. I can't really comment yet as to how good it is yet, as it is summer, so I have been reluctant to use it. I did turn it on manually a couple of times, and it did seem to dry the towels well. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n53 ... G_2235.jpg http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n53 ... I don't have to make a final decision yet and ultimately it will be decided by budget as we go along. At a minimum, we are getting wiring down into wall so that they can be installed post-build if necessary. But I really hope we can squeeze it in when we build. 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 13Mar 17, 2012 10:43 am Go for more rails if you can - you want as many bars in contact with the towels as possible to warm them/dry them properly. I manage to fit three towels and a bathmat on our 11-bar one, with minimal overlapping. Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 14Jun 26, 2012 9:08 pm We used a chrome zenitherm towel rail, however ours is not electric, it's part of the hydronic heating system for the house, so it doubles up as a heater for the bathroom. It's a good way to go if you are starting with a clean slate, but challenging to retrofit. my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 15Jun 26, 2012 9:51 pm Hydronic heating is fantastic. Re: heated towel racks - recommendations? 16Jan 07, 2013 12:09 pm Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm just wondering whether anybody has got any current recommendations on heated towel rails? We are looking at getting one in our new ensuite. I'm hoping that it can be hard-wired with a timer.
