Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 21, 2012 7:47 pm Hi, I was hoping for wall hung vanity units in ensuite and bathroom, but due to the fact the waste pipes were already put in the floor, our cabinet maker is saying he can do a recessed kickboard option, (pretty much back to where the pipe is, I'm thinking) to give the illusion that its wall mounted, but I cant find any photos of this to see what it looks like. He did say it doesnt look so good from side on, but unless I can visualise it I dont know if its something I'd like. Anyone heard of this, or seen it? Many thanks, nicenurse Has anyone heard of vanity units with recessed kickboards 2Feb 21, 2012 8:50 pm I think from memory Kek has them. They are also sometimes called a plinth - which once tiled the same as the floor gives the illusion of floating. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Has anyone heard of vanity units with recessed kickboard 4Feb 22, 2012 4:40 pm Yes, is done quite regularly. Its done when a customer wants to hide a waste or when a floating look is required but more support is needed. The other option is to put a chrome pipe cover on the outside of your PVC pipe. Re: Has anyone heard of vanity units with recessed kickboard 6Feb 24, 2012 8:20 pm hi nicenurse. I love our vanities. The trick to having them appear to be floating is to make the plinth as small as possible (while still providing support for the cabinet) and if possible, to tile it to match the floor. With the same finish as the floor, the plinth visually "disappears" - your eye doesn't even see it. Re: Has anyone heard of vanity units with recessed kickboard 7May 25, 2012 8:13 pm Hi Kek - you seem to know a lot about vanities on plinths....we are having them, however our tiler has tiled the plinth the wrong colur - I had asked for it to be the floor colour so that it appears to disappear, but they have tiled it the wall colour. Do you think it will still kind of disappear?
