Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 02, 2012 11:39 pm are we supposed to have a floor waste with a fall in the laundry? We dont have one and would prefer not to have one, but I did read somewhere that there should be one... Saying that I also read in the AUS standards (2004) (which may now have been changed) that in a domestic house (class 1) you dont have to have any floor wastes...???? so what is the current legislation here in QLD...I hate floor wastes...we never had them in the UK...and other than the ones in the showers, I would really prefer not to have them in the middle of the floors and have to have a fall etc...... help please.....before we get to the waterproofing stage..... Re: floor wastes and falls......do we HAVE to have them??? 2Jan 03, 2012 8:06 am A floor waste in the laundry is a good idea. If there is an overflow, you don't want the water entering the house. I managed to have a floor waste in the laundry and have a nice clean look. I put a straight fall in the laundry (and every other wet area). That is, there's a fall that's all in one plane. This way there are no tiles cut up and placed back or local dip. For the laundry I put the floor waste near the back in the centre of the washing mahine space. Now, if there's a leak, there will be some water build up until the floor waste is reached, but then it will drain. This way no water enters the rest of the house. Sure, the water in the last few inches will build up and will need to be mopped up, but how often do you get a leak in the laundry. See, you can have your cake and eat it. I told the builder not to put a fall on the flooring, and they said OK. You don't have to have floor wasters in kitchen or laundry, but I want my expensive bamboo flooring to have some protection in case the dish washer or washing machine floods up. 13-08 Moved in 13-05 Build restart 13-04 VMIA compensation 12-08 Builder liquidation 12-03 Fixing 11-12 Lockup 11-11 Frame 11-09 Slab 11-09 Start 11-07 Contract 10-11 2K deposit 10-06 Titled land I haven’t.
