Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 30, 2011 12:41 am Hi all. We're in agony choosing colours for bathroom/ensuite floors and walls. Can people show off their bathrooms, because we can't make up our mind which way (colour combination) to go... Can't seems to imagine how certain colour combinations will look in real life. It's all beautiful in magazines with extra lighting and professional photographer but... what does it look like in reality? Does you bathroom/ensuite compliments the rest of your house (colour wise)? Does you ensuite and bathroom match? Thanks Show me your bathroom/ensuite... 2Dec 30, 2011 7:37 am There are quite a few "Show Us Your Bathroom" threads. If you go back a couple of pages you should find them. For me - all 4 bathrooms and 2 powder rooms are different. They aren't next to each other so aren't seen from one another plus the colours were chosen to coordinate with the attached bedrooms. In the poolhouse I am going for a more tropical feel so it is dark timber, stone basin and medium dark textured tiles alongside stark white for the shower room / toilet. Some things are worth waiting for. I'm sorry, but to me it constantly reminds of rental property (every rentals we were in had the same chocolate tiles and brown laminate bench)... Although I have used browns in my poolhouse my bathrooms are:- Main ensuite - a taupe floor, taupe and the palest green wallpaper print plus a "streaky" pale tile. DD's ensuite - purple floor, white walls with a purple mosaic trim. DS1's ensuite - steel grey floor, white wall with mosaic of red, silver and charcoal. DS2's ensuite - pale aqua floor, white wall tiles with aqua mosaic trim. Laundry and attached powder - choc floor with sort of British racing green mosaic. Garage powder is black floor tile with no trim. You may just have to take a punt on a colour you like as most displays are pretty much black / charcoal / shades of brown. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Show me your bathroom/ensuite... 6Dec 30, 2011 3:28 pm kyton At present browns are pretty popular. We thought about more mild colors such as grey/light grey/whitish... Can't find any pictures that depicts that spectrum. We stuck to very neutral colours and are delighted with the end result. Because they're small rooms it's hard to get good photos of them. Thanks, I've noticed in your tread that you have porcelain tiles. We're torn between porcelain 600*600tiles and bamboo flooring... from personal experience, how do you find tiles in every day life - are they easy to maintain in main living areas? Re: Show me your bathroom/ensuite... 10Dec 30, 2011 9:08 pm Hi AGF, The porcelain tiles are fabulous. We did have them polished and sealed so the grout is so clean. We had large tiled floors in our old house but the porcelain have been much better to keep clean. We just use a microfibre mop and it looks shiny and clean. hope that helps:) Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Show me your bathroom/ensuite... 11Dec 31, 2011 9:21 am we have greys and whites, but vinyl, not tiles on the floor (grey vinyl ) a marble look tiles around the bath, and white vanities, no tiles up any walls etc Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ the floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I like the floor, it has a line running through it, Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ good luck Re: Show me your bathroom/ensuite... 12Dec 31, 2011 9:24 am the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11838 Thanks for the suggestion.
