A tiler then put the mortar bed over the vertical angles, and the travertine tiles sit well proud of the angle. qu. How much of a waterproofing issue is it that a. the mortar bed and b. the tiles, are over the angle? We have been given conflicting advice on this. One person told us to pull up the whole bed and start again. Your help much appreciated. As for water being an issue if there is a waste present then not really an issue it would just be looks that the tiler didn't have an eye for detail. This should not be too big an issue though provided your shower is enclosed within its own waterstop or hob. We used to use 50mm angles where possible. The tiler needs probably 15-20mm fall to the floor waste for the average sized bathroom. Another 8-10mm for the thickness of the tile then his sand/cement bed which should be about 15-20mm minimum otherwise there isn't enough strength in the bed. Stewie We are having a bathroom reddone.
