Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 12, 2011 3:12 pm Dear All, I am after some advise: we are planning THE new house and arguing about showers. The idea is to have as low maintenance as possible, i.e. no glass and no mouldy grout. So Aquapanel (or similar) for wall linings and, preferably, a no-door, walk in shower. My questions: 1) how much space do you need - I've seen floorplans with about 900 x1500 mm showers. a) Is that enough to avoid splashes all over the rest of the bathroom, or b) could you get away with less? c)are there any relevant building code regulations to watch out for? 2) What is the best position for and type of showerhead ? Would love to hear from anybody who has put in such type of shower - would you do it again and what would you do differently if you did? thanks in advance!! Re: new bathroom: ideal shower? 3Nov 19, 2011 8:02 am Abby ......Our shower in the ensuite is 900 x 185....... Which dimensions are these, 900mm sounds like a reasonable distance, but 185mm ?? P_D . It is extra long as that is just how it worked out with the layout of the room. I would think 900 x 1500 would be a good space. If you waterproof the whole floor if it happened to get a few splashes it wouldn't matter. Re: new bathroom: ideal shower? 5Nov 19, 2011 11:17 am Abby Hi, Our shower space is 900 wide by 185 long. The children's ensuites are just 760 mm x 1320 mm with a single glass panel. Bigger is obviosulay better, but this size works if you want to minimise the space an ensuite takes up. The entire ensuites (vanity, toilet and shower) are 2210 x 1324. I spend a lot of time playing with stuff to get what I think is the smallest, but still nice, ensuite size. The wall is around 1060mm in length so an opening of 740mm at one end. Some things are worth waiting for.
