Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 27, 2011 4:07 pm we are building a new house for the first time and about to finalise our pre-start decisions and contract. some of the costs to upgrade items we have found to be well beyond our expectations and we would appreciate some advice about whether we are being realistic! our allowance in the wet areas is a 300x300 ceramic tile... we are tiling a small ensuite (no bath), a bathroom (with bath) and a laundry. we have been told that the area of wall tiling is approx 61 sqm. all of the areas will be using the same wall tiles (white), and the same floor tiles. to upgrade to a 300x600 wall tile (still in ceramic) we were told that labour would cost more because they are harder to lay and also to allow for extra wastage. that was understandable - but the upgrade quote we have been given is over $2200! which means approx $36/ sqm extra to lay a longer tile. does this seem reasonable? thanks, sally Re: cost of tiling 300x600 tiles 2Oct 27, 2011 4:19 pm We upgraded our floor tiles 600x300 in the ensuite, bathroom & toilet/powder room and that was about $1700 so your quote of $2200 for the whole lot probably isn't that bad. Don't you love it when you do upgrades the budget just flies out the window A bank is a place that will lend you money only if you can prove that you don't need it... Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7524 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8084 4 14438 |
