Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 08, 2008 4:38 pm My mum has a toilet that has cracked. (maybe a big night on the curry? )
I need to replace it. Normally this would be easy enough however, this one has had the base cut to make it lower for the first owners in the mid 70s. (why? Who knows?) It has started to crack around the base causing a small slow leak (no punn intended ) onto the floor. How can I remove it as it doesn't have any screws holding it in. It apears to be cemented instead. Also it enters a terracotta pipe with a concrete seal on the sewage pipe. How do I best deal with that? I don't wish to break the pipe but how does the concrete that seals it come out? It is cut at where the screws would normally be to lower it. This on a concrete slab too by the way with ceramic tiles around it. please someone, pimp my lowered toilet Re: pimp my lowered toilet 2Feb 08, 2008 4:51 pm Fu Manchu…. This is how they used to set toilets! I don’t know about the pipe work, but if you just add a little cement to the floor (around the old toilet position) let it set, then cement the new toilet on top of that, this bringing up the new toilet to floor hight, would it all not be the same? The other toilet in the house has the screws that hold the dunny in place. Re: pimp my lowered toilet 4Feb 08, 2008 4:59 pm Fu Manchu dunny in place. That’s soooooo Aussie!!!! Love it! Well better wait till someone who knows what there talking about then. Maybe Al…. he seems to have done a lot of renos! Yeah that pipe work? how to tackle that. How do the old "toilets" get removed when they used to be cemented in? Re: pimp my lowered toilet 7Feb 09, 2008 1:10 am royalblue Just get a plumber in to sort it out! agree with royalblue we had a high toilet (no joke .. my legs used to swing freely) in our old house and the toilet sat on bricks and was cemented in. Even had the redbacks to complete the Aussie pic . Had to get a plumber out to replace it. Wasnt very expensive from memory. Re: pimp my lowered toilet 10Feb 09, 2008 6:09 pm royalblue So you're no longer into 'swinging freely' DeeElle?! Didn't know you were into that! I walked right into that one. Re: pimp my lowered toilet 11Feb 13, 2008 8:12 pm Yeah I guess I should post a piccie. I don't think I can up load from the computer on this forum?
We want to avoid a plumber if possible because they are so hard to find in Perth. Our hot water system went on the blink and it cost us a fortune to do something I could have done myself when I saw what he did. Then it leaked a heap of water and I fixed it myself. No one was very interested in doing that job and in the end it wasn't done by a very good plumber. no point getting them back as we would have had to wait nearly a week again. all the good plumbers, it seems, in Perth no longer do things like fix mums "toilet" (or in French- "toilet" ) they get too much money building new houses or working on the mines anyone know a good plumber in Perth? We don't Re: pimp my lowered toilet 12Feb 13, 2008 8:19 pm Yak_Chat Fumanchu - Dare I ask - post a photo and Ash said Quote: So you're no longer into 'swinging freely' DeeElle?! Didn't know you were into that! You wish Ash !! LOL yeah but how cold was the water? Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7006 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
