Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 04, 2011 12:55 pm Hi all I have chosen to have a glass mosaic feature tile in the main bathroom. It will be used in a vertical strip in the shower and a horizontal strip between the mirror and the vanity. I am wondering how to incorporate it onto the bathhob - just a strip, or possibly tile the entire bath hob with them. Also, if the feature tile is not used over the entire bath, is it better to continue the floor tile up over the hob, or the wall tile? What do people think? I would love to see some pictures as most of the pictures I have been able to find have been of entire walls & floors instead of just the bath. Here's a pic of the colour scheme and chosen tiles: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 2Oct 04, 2011 4:09 pm Hi Soaked! I would either do a strip on the bathhob or not at all. I think if you did the whole thing it would look too busy (just my opinion! ). In regards to which tiles to use, we are using floor tiles (stone) for the shower hob and floor so it all blends and up the side of the bath. The top ledges around the bath will be the wall tile (white). Our skirting will also be the floor tiles. To be honest, just go with what you like. I thought having a shower hob in a different colour to the floor would look weird but now I've noticed most houses I have ever been in have the wall tile as the hob and the floor tiles just on the floor and I've never noticed! Good luck! Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 3Oct 04, 2011 4:26 pm We built a recess into our bathroom wall, just above the bath, which my daughter said last time we were at the house "thats where we can put our toys and shit" It'll be done in the feature tile. I think the whole hob in the feature would be too busy,a s well as horribly expensive. I prefer the floor tile up over the hob, think it makes the nice white bath more striking I have almost that exact tile in my ensuite atm, you obviously have stunning taste! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 4Oct 04, 2011 4:30 pm Thanks chuffy I was worried about it looking too busy but then I found some pics I had taken in display homes and came across this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I must have liked it at the time because I took a picture of it These tiles are lighter than mine will be and I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. I know what you mean about not noticing the colour of the bath hob - I have never paid any attention that before either, yet now I am stressing about it Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 5Oct 04, 2011 4:34 pm tinkster We built a recess into our bathroom wall, just above the bath, which my daughter said last time we were at the house "thats where we can put our toys and shit" Hahaha thats gold!!!! tinkster I have almost that exact tile in my ensuite atm, you obviously have stunning taste! Agreed I was starting to worry that my colour choices were a little bit strange as no-one seems to have similar colours But in the end we are building the house for us and all that matters is what we like Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 6Oct 04, 2011 5:35 pm soakedblonde Hahaha thats gold!!!! yeh, I laughed, then asked where she heard that, and re-itereated its a bad word, no matter how many times her father says it! soakedblonde Agreed I was starting to worry that my colour choices were a little bit strange as no-one seems to have similar colours But in the end we are building the house for us and all that matters is what we like Very true, ours aren't glass and we have a darker floor but the same colours my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 7Oct 04, 2011 10:07 pm Kids say the funniest things! That's a classic tinkster! Soaked, that bath looks amazing! If it's going to be your feature it would look awesome And as you say, go with what you like! It's your house, time to stamp it with your personality Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 8Oct 06, 2011 11:51 pm chuffy Hi Soaked! I would either do a strip on the bathhob or not at all. Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 9Oct 07, 2011 10:01 am Hi soakedblonde, My feature mosaic tile is a bit similar to yours and I had the hob tiled in black gloss tiles to pick out the black in the mosaics. Here's a pic (apologies for the poor quality) http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af135/grom40/George009.jpg Just another option (sorry to complicate the decision making further!) Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 10Oct 07, 2011 11:10 am Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 11Oct 07, 2011 11:21 am My feature tile is very similar also. We went with the vertical strip just on the wall behind the bath. The floor tiles continued up the side of the bath hob and on top. Why am I describing it? You can see it in the pic below. The only thing I would change if I had the chance would be the width of the strip. Ours is three rows wide and I think it would have looked better five rows wide. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff245/rebel_radar/DSCN1073.jpg Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 12Oct 07, 2011 11:38 am Thanks for the pics grom, alt & fairy blue - they all look amazing.... so many options Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Glass mosaic tiling to bath hob 13Oct 07, 2011 11:46 am alt0160 I saw this in the tile shop, thought you would like to see: alt, I just realised you are in Perth. Can I ask which tile shop you saw this in? I would love to show hubby one in "real life" as he gets very impatient looking at lots of pics!
