Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 21, 2011 12:39 pm Are there particular toilet brands that are better than others? Im looking for a wall faced toilet. Im thinking in terms of long term use- which will have the least problems and easiest to get parts for? What should I be looking for? Re: Toilet brands - which ones? 2Sep 21, 2011 12:56 pm Zeds I'm no expert on which ones are the best, but the bloke at Tradelink was very helpful and pointed out which toilet bowls were washed correctly during flushing. One in particular he said was poorly designed and warned against buying it unless I wanted to constantly clean the toilets. So in the end I asked if he was buying toilets for his house which one would he buy....that's the one I chose and after 10 months I'm really happy with it because the bowl is washed properly when the toilet is flushed, it's a comfortable seat (not too narrow) and looks good as well. I paid extra for the soft close lid/seat and just love this feature...would never go back to the old slammers!! It's the Caroma Metro 4.5-3 litre, wall faced, close coupled. Hope this helps? Re: Toilet brands - which ones? 4Sep 21, 2011 2:00 pm Don't worry you're not the only one it was something I took for granted too, although once he told me, I remembered in one house we had a loo that always needed cleaning. Re: Toilet brands - which ones? 5Sep 21, 2011 5:10 pm I've heard from a plumber that it's worth paying a bit more for Caroma because the parts are easily available for years after. I've had two quotes on the Caroma Metro and again, I was surprised by the difference in price. One was inner-Melb, fancy showroom, the other was an outer-Melb industrial area. Both have the same store name and were quoting on an identical package of stuff... Fancy showroom quote: $681 + GST Industrial area quote: $540 + GST Exactly the same product - Caroma Metro, Back to Wall, Soft Close Seat. Re: Toilet brands - which ones? 6Sep 21, 2011 6:46 pm This is what a plumber told me,old style toilets when flushed had flow at the back of bowl when flushed.New 3and 4 star water flows all around rim when you flush, thats why they are easy to clean. As l said plumber words could it be true?
