Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 22, 2011 10:46 am I just received a mirrors quote and was told that because my tiles are pretty thick, the mirrors will need to be packed out. But even if they pack them out the mirrors will not be flush with the tiles because the walls aren't 100% straight They said that in some spots the mirrors will sit flush with the tiles below but in other places it will stick out and in others it will be further in, if that makes sense. Has anyone had this problem and is it very noticeable? I am hoping that silicone might minimise the unevenness effect? Re: Mirrors that rest on tiles 2Aug 22, 2011 3:58 pm We have the height differences with ours. We don't really notice or look for it because we have half height tiling. One of our bathrooms is flush because it is padded out (they cracked the first mirror, so they glued a new one on top which brought it flush), it does look much better. The OH hates the idea of tiles and mirrors butting up to each other, so much so that our bathrooms were designed to eliminate it. Our mirrors go from vanity top to ceiling, which takes care of two sides, and where possible there is a wall on the other edge, or a window. Im guessing your mirror is frameless, perhaps using a framed one may help? Re: Mirrors that rest on tiles 3Aug 22, 2011 4:10 pm Thanks alt. I've been quoted for frameless mirrors and packing out. But even when they pack it out they can't guarantee it will be flush with tiles along the whole length... Is this the main reason why your OH hates the idea of tiles and mirrors butting up to each other? My mirrors are way too big to be framed. And I prefer the frameless look This is one of the reasons I decided to go overseas for my double glazed windows.
